The issue of the Volyn tragedy, no, it is “invention” and “PR in words”. At the same time, the people’s deputy Knyazhitsky named other issues that, according to him, Ukraine and Poland will resolve.
On July 23, Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that without a solution to the Volyn tragedy, Ukraine will not be able to join the European Union.
He stressed that his country “supports Ukraine as much as possible.” However, in relations between the states “not everything is perfect” due to “unresolved historical issues.”
The issue of the “Volyn tragedy” has long been an unhealed wound in relations. In July 2023, on the anniversary of the Volyn tragedy, Poland once again emphasized that Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation should include recognition of guilt and honoring the memory of the victims of World War II. Ukraine did not agree with the “one-sided and politicized” assessment of the tragic events of 1943-1944 by Polish politicians and diplomats.
