The Prime Minister noted that the Czech society has favorably received the Ukrainians who are trying to integrate quickly.
More than half of the Ukrainian refugees who arrived in the Czech Republic after the start of the Russian invasion found work. The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, announced this in an interview with Ukrinform published on Wednesday, July 24.
The Czech Republic has received more than half a million Ukrainian migrants since February 2022, and currently around 362,000 remain in the country.
Fiala noted that more than 50% of economically active refugees have found work, which is high compared to other EU countries. About a quarter of displaced people are receiving humanitarian assistance.
The Prime Minister noted that the Czech society has favorably received the Ukrainians who are trying to integrate quickly.
From September 1, changes are expected for those seeking protection. In particular, humanitarian housing is only available for three months after arrival to encourage people to find their own housing.
Let’s recall that in the EU countries at the end of April 2024, almost 4.2 million citizens of non-EU countries who left Ukraine as a result of a large-scale war had a temporary protection status. As of the end of March, there were 4.21 million such people.
Germany is concerned about the large influx of Ukrainian refugees into the country and proposes to distribute those fleeing the war equally among all states of the European Union.
