Seven women who served time in prison signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The women expressed a desire to serve under contract in exchange for early discharge, the press service of the Ministry of Justice reported.
It is noted that these women successfully passed the military medical commission and received consent from the commanders of military units to serve in specific units of the Defense Forces.
The law on the mobilization of convicts adopted by the Verkhovna Rada provides for the possibility of joining the army not only for men, but also for women, – noted Deputy Minister of Justice Elena Vysotskaya. – However, previously convicted women did not express a desire to be mobilized into the army. Now there is a decision regarding the first 7 convicts who decided to sign a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In total, since the entry into force of the relevant law, 6,101 convicts have expressed a desire to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 3,823 people have already left penal institutions for training.
