After Russia’s devastating attack on a Ukrainian children’s hospital, Austria immediately offered help.
Austria received for treatment two seriously ill children from the Kyiv Okhmatdyt hospital, where Russia launched a missile strike on July 8. Austrian Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer announced this on Sunday, July 21, in a post on social network X (formerly Twitter).
He noted that the decision to help was made quickly;
“With the cooperation between the Austrian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the ÖGK and the Ukrainian authorities, it was possible to bring two seriously ill children to Austria to continue their treatment,” he said.
In turn, Ukrainian Ambassador to Austria Vasyl Khiminets thanked Nehammer for his participation in helping Ukrainian children and confirmed that help is being offered immediately.
“Help from the federal government was offered immediately; – Ukrainian diplomat wrote on social network X.
Earlier, Kronen Zeitung reported that 12-year-old Vladislav and 13-year-old Yuri were taken to Austria for treatment. Both children have cancer. They are currently undergoing chemotherapy in hospitals in Graz and Salzburg.
We remind you that on July 8, the Russians launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. One of the targets was the Okhmatdyt hospital in Kyiv. During the strike, there were 627 children in the establishment, eight of whom were injured, and two adults were killed. 94 patients were taken to other hospitals. Another boy later died of his injuries.
