Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in the Tajik capital Dushanbe, leaving Russia for the first time since the full -scale invasion of Ukraine began.
Putin will hold talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. This was reported by Russia’s state news agency RIA Novosti.
The agenda of their discussion included bilateral relations, the situation on the borders and Afghanistan issues. This is their second personal meeting since the beginning of 2022, after the CSTO summit in Moscow on May 16.
According to Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov, the talks could raise the issue of Tajikistan’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union. Issues of military, trade and cultural cooperation will also be discussed.
After the visit to Dushanbe, Putin plans to arrive in Turkmenistan’s capital, Ashgabat.
Recall that earlier Russian media reported that Putin was traveling abroad for the first time since a full-scale aggression began in Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
