In the center of Kyiv on Konissky Street yesterday, May 19, the Zelensky Estate was demolished – a historical building built in 1890. The police opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 298 of the Criminal Code (intentional illegal destruction, demolition or damage to cultural heritage sites or parts thereof).

This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv police.
Yesterday evening, the Kyiv police received a report that unknown persons had demolished a building built in the late 19th century on Oleksandr Konissky Street using heavy construction equipment. The duty officer immediately sent an investigative task force to the scene, the report says.
It is noted that the police have established the location of the equipment and seized it; the issue of its arrest is being decided.
Incidents are being established.
The Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Kyiv City State Administration called the situation with the demolition of the estate “impudent and cynical arbitrariness.”
This brazen crime looks especially cynical when two days ago the public organization “Heritage Kyiv” submitted to our department a package of revised accounting documentation on assigning the building at 22 Konissky Street the status of a landmark, – it is noted on the Facebook page of the department.
