Biden raised one of the largest sums for his election campaign on a June night at a fundraiser in Hollywood – $28 million.
Fundraising for US President Joe Biden’s election campaign has been suspended. Reuters reported this on Friday, July 19, citing its own sources.
Biden had reportedly planned to raise money next week in Austin, Denver and California, but those plans have been put on hold.
According to reporters, several big donors “closed their check books on the question of whether Biden should remain at the top of the Democratic ticket.”
It was noted that in July it was planned to collect about $50 million in large contributions for the Biden fund, but “as of Friday, less than half of this amount has been received.”
At the same time, Biden’s headquarters, when contacted by reporters, said that fundraising for his re-election campaign is proceeding as scheduled.
“The Reuters sources are incorrect; we expect an updated fundraising schedule,” campaign spokesman Kevin Munoz said Friday.
It added that it predicts fundraising from megadonors will drop from June to July as many of them are on vacation.
Let’s remember that in June, Joe Biden and former US President Donald Trump took part in the debate. Biden’s performance was so bad that the Democratic Party called for a change in presidential candidate.
Biden has said he is willing to withdraw from presidential negotiations if he has serious health problems. It was later learned that Biden had contracted COVID.
