The call was the first phone conversation between the two since Trump left the White House.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky spoke with Donald Trump, the candidate of the Republican Party in the upcoming presidential elections in the United States. The President of Ukraine himself announced this on Saturday, July 20.
He noted that he congratulated Trump on his nomination as the Republican presidential candidate and condemned the attempt on his life.
The Ukrainian president also mentioned “the important bipartisan and bicameral American support in protecting the freedom and independence of our state.”
Zelensky added that he agreed with Trump “to discuss in a personal meeting what steps can make peace and truly last.”
Trump confirmed the information about the phone conversation with Zelensky and called it “very good.”
He added that he “appreciates President Zelensky for his message” and promises to “end the war.”
Earlier, the American publication CNN wrote that on July 19, former US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky had a scheduled telephone conversation.
As we have already written, Vladimir Zelensky is “possibly ready” for a meeting with Donald Trump, who allegedly knows how to end the war with Russia in our country.
