The Ukrainian leader spoke with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the summit of the European Political Community in Britain.
Ukraine may receive F16 fighters from Poland. President Vladimir Zelensky announced this on the social network X on Friday, July 19.
He said that yesterday he met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the European Political Community summit in the UK to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
“And now we have a positive decision from the Polish government on something that will allow Ukraine to receive F-16 fighters as soon as possible. Thank you, dear Donald, for the effective implementation of our preliminary agreements for the strong its support for Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote.
According to data from open sources, Poland now has 48 F-16 aircraft at its disposal.
Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky expressed regret that 18 months have passed, and the F-16s “did not reach us,” although they were promised to be delivered in the summer.
Zelensky also said that Ukraine needs at least 128 F-16 fighters to create effective competition for Russia in the air.
As you know, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and other allies have pledged twice as many fighters as the number of trained pilots and engineers that Ukraine needs to serve in Western aviation.
