France will send a “significant number” of VAB-type armored personnel carriers to Ukraine, and is also exploring the possibility of providing Exocet anti-ship missiles. This was announced in an interview with Le Parisien by the country’s Minister of the Armed Forces, Sebastian Lecornu, CNN reports.
“To act quickly in areas under enemy fire, troops need armored vehicles,” he stressed.
Lecornu did not disclose the date, quantity or other details of the delivery of the armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. At the same time, he added that Paris is studying the possibility of transferring French-made Exocet anti-ship missiles to Kyiv.
The Minister also urged the French defense industry to increase production speeds to replenish stocks of ammunition and weapons.
It will be recalled that during a visit to Ukraine on June 16, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he would send six more Caesar self-propelled artillery mounts to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
