Kobakhidze discussed the relations between Georgia and the EU with the participants of the summit, in particular with the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell and head of the European Council Charles Michel.
The EU’s attitude towards Georgia will change for the better when the “situation in the region” calms down. The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze announced this on Thursday, July 18, following the results of the European Political Community summit in Great Britain, reported NewsGeorgia, Interpressnews agency and the First Channel of Georgian Television.
“It is important, first of all, to end the war in Ukraine. We have great hope that in a year most of the war in Ukraine will end, so the situation in the region will calm down, and all this will have a positive effect. on the general political situation in our region, as well as on the attitude towards Georgia”, said the head of the Georgian government.
According to Kobakhidze, he discussed the relations between Georgia and the EU, issues of community expansion and the current agenda with the participants of the summit, especially with the head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell and the head of the European Council Charles Michel.
As is known, the leaders of the EU, after the summit of the European Council, decided to suspend Georgia’s entry into the economic and political bloc due to the fact that the country adopted the law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence.”
Kobakhidze is from the current leading party in Georgia, Georgian Dream, which promoted the law “on foreign agents.”
