Yerevan proposed to hold a meeting between the Prime Minister and the President of Azerbaijan. While Baku has accused Armenia of reneging on previous peace agreements.
Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of refusing to meet at leaders’ level on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in the UK. This was reported by Hetq on Thursday, July 18.
In particular, the Armenian Foreign Ministry stated that Yerevan offered to hold a meeting between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, but Baku rejected the offer.
The ministry said the proposal is still valid and that Armenia confirms its desire to continue negotiations with Baku at the highest level to reach a peace agreement.
In this regard, Advisor to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev accused Armenia of retreating from previous peace agreements.
The leaders’ meeting in London is proposed to be organized by the UK at the Munich Security Conference.
