Zelensky and Sanchez discussed the transfer of arms to Ukraine

The President thanked Spain for its continued support to Ukraine and the latest decisions to transfer defense aid to our state.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky met with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in British Woodstock, where the summit of the European Political Community is taking place. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian leader on Thursday, July 18.

Zelensky thanked Spain for its continued support to Ukraine and the latest decisions to transfer defense aid to our state.

“The leaders discussed the timing of the arrival of weapons and subsequent defense support – both at the bilateral level and with partner countries,” the statement said.

Special attention was given to the implementation of the decisions of the first Peace Summit. Zelensky spoke about the planned thematic conferences on the points of the Peace Formula about food and nuclear security, as well as the release of all prisoners and deported Ukrainians.

The President also informed Sanchez about the start of the process of screening Ukrainian legislation for compliance with European law and noted the importance of speeding up the next stages of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

It was previously known that Spain has started transferring 10 Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine. The Ukrainian Armed Forces will also receive a large number of anti-tank missiles.

Earlier, Ukraine received a second batch of Patriot anti-aircraft missiles from Spain.
