The head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, announced this today, July 18, on his Telegram channel.
We are providing life-saving aid to innocent civilians who are suffering from food insecurity and are at risk of starvation. The Russian invasion has left 70 million people around the world in a food crisis, he stressed.
According to Yermak, a ship with 1,000 tons of wheat flour for Palestine arrived from Turkey to Jordan within the Grain from Ukraine and has already been delivered to the Gaza Strip.
This batch was the first delivery to Palestine under this initiative. More ships are planned for the coming months. In total, Ukraine plans to deliver more than 7,000 tons of wheat flour to Gaza under the initiative with the support of donors, in particular, Norway, Austria, Estonia, France and Iceland, Yermak noted.
He added that Ukraine will continue to be a donor of food security for the entire world.
During the existence of the program, Ukraine has supplied essential food products to many countries, in particular, to Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya and Yemen. Food security is one of the important points of the Peace Formula, and I call on all countries to join our collective efforts to achieve it, – Yermak emphasized.
