The MP was outraged that Bezugla made public information that the committee had considered at a closed meeting. He told Glavkom about this.
Venislavsky announced his intention to file a complaint on July 5. As the MP noted, the disclosure of classified information contains elements of a crime provided for by certain articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
On air at Radio Liberty, the deputy said that he would send his statement to the State Bureau of Investigation. However, now in a comment to Glavkom, he clarified that “this is not the jurisdiction of the State Bureau of Investigation:
This is how Bezugla interpreted my speech. I said that I would contact law enforcement agencies, and so I brought this matter, my statement, to the end.
Venislavsky added that he is now awaiting an assessment of Bezuglya’s actions by law enforcement officers.
The case in question falls within the competence of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Let us recall that the Committee on Security, Defense and Intelligence considered the issue of sending a statement about Bezuglya’s actions to law enforcement, but there was not enough quorum to make this decision. Overall, according to the Commander-in-Chief, 11 deputies present at the meeting voted in favor and one abstained.
On July 15, Maryana Bezugla was recalled from her position as head of the subcommittee on democratic civil control. On July 16, it became known that MP Bezugla was added to the Myrotvorets database for “deliberate discrediting and demoralizing the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
As stated in the profile, Bezugla was included in the database for deliberate public actions aimed at discrediting the state authorities of Ukraine, discrediting, demoralizing and obstructing the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, splitting civil society, disseminating information containing state secrets and used by Russia in the information war against Ukraine.
It is also indicated that since 2022, Bezugla has been the most quoted Ukrainian politician by Russian propagandists. For example, hostile media and Telegram channels actively use her critical statements about the military command of Ukraine, “record losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, and the alleged readiness of the command to sign “any variations of the capitulation of Ukraine”.
