The K-Drama Recommended by BTS’ Jin

In recent years, South Korean productions have become increasingly popular around the world. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter (via Rolling Stone Brasil), according to Netflix’s CEO, Ted Sarandosin 2023, around 60% of the streaming service’s subscribers watched films, series or even reality shows made in South Korea.

According to information from the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo, the number is even higher in Brazil, since, here, 75% of subscribers consume South Korean content on the platform.

However, in addition to being an international success, K-dramas are also extremely beloved in their home country — so much so that it is not uncommon to see different artists from South Korea frequently recommending productions from their nation to fans around the world.

A great example of this fact is Jinfrom BTS, who, during a recent interview with W Korea magazine, revealed that the last series he watched is one of the most popular k-dramas of recent days: “Queen of Tears”, starring Kim Soo Hyun It is Kim Ji Won.

“The most enjoyable drama I’ve watched recently, although I didn’t realize it from the first episode, is called ‘Queen of Tears,’” the idol revealed in the interview.

During the conversation, the oldest member of BTS also revealed what his favorite scene was. He said: “There was a scene where Kim Soo Hyun holds flower petals and decides if he likes her [a personagem de Kim Ji Won] or not, and that scene was really cool to watch.”

With 16 episodes, “Queen of Tears” was released this year, produced by the South Korean broadcaster tvN, and entered the list of most-watched series on the platform. The production tells the story of a couple of tycoons who, after getting married very young, end up going through a marital crisis years later and need to find a solution to make their love blossom again.
