The Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine Stanislav Kravchenko told the Interfax-Ukraine agency about this.
According to Kravchenko, this is a common crime among Ukrainian military personnel, accounting for 61% of all those convicted of military criminal offenses.
37 people were convicted for the loss of military property, 35 for violating the rules for handling weapons, 113 for desertion, and 32 for evading military service by causing injury.
Overall, according to statistics from the State Judicial Administration, the number of people convicted of war crimes in 2023 was significantly higher than in 2022, at 2,585 and 1,490 respectively. These are sentences that have already entered into legal force, the Supreme Court Chairman noted.
