The congressmen are calling for a review of any Chinese military efforts aimed at thwarting Russian military innovations.
The US House of Representatives Select Committee on China believes that the Russians may have transferred to China data on American weapons supplied to Ukraine. Reuters wrote this on Monday, July 15.
The committee turned to Presidential National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and noted the potential vulnerability of American weapons and military equipment supplied to Ukraine.
The congressmen cited media and think tank reports about China’s support for Russia’s military industry and an “alarming level of Russian adaptation” that has undermined the effectiveness of some unnamed US weapons systems.
“We should expect and act on the assumption that Russia is providing China with information about the vulnerabilities of American and allied weapons systems and how to deal with them,” the letter said.
In particular, lawmakers refer to media publications and think tanks that talk about Chinese support for Russia’s military industry.
The special committee called on the White House to “assess Russia’s ability to counter American military equipment” stationed in Ukraine, and the extent to which Moscow shares “experience gained” with Beijing.
