Hungarian authorities believe that the country’s role as a mediator in Russia’s war against Ukraine should not be underestimated.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, after his visits to Ukraine, Russia and China, informed the leaders of the European Union of the results of his “peace mission” and Budapest’s “peace” proposals. This was announced by the political director of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Balazs Orban, in an interview with Magyar Nemzet.
According to him, Orban’s plan is now on the table of every EU leader.
Balazs Orban said that from the Hungarian prime minister’s trips to Kyiv and Moscow, “it became clear that Ukraine and Russia are determined to fight.”
“And without the intervention of external mediators, we will unfortunately see tremendous destruction in the coming months,” he said.
After that, according to Orban, Hungary started negotiations with potential mediators: China, Turkey and former US President Donald Trump.
“But the Europeans and the current US administration are in favor of continuing the war. The Prime Minister wrote to the EU leaders about the negotiations, the result of the first phase of the peacekeeping mission and the Hungarian proposals. If desired Europe wants peace and wants to have a decisive voice in resolving the war and ending the bloodshed, it must develop and implement a change of direction,” he said.
Orbán also believes that Hungary’s role as a mediator should not be underestimated, as he believes that the country can play a “serious mediating role.”
Let’s remember that Orban visited Kyiv, Moscow and Beijing, where he allegedly discussed “peace initiatives” to end the war in Ukraine.
