The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, stated this in an interview with NV, Radio Liberty reports.
Budanov noted that there is no catastrophe, but “it is impossible not to see the problems.” However, he did not specify what direction he was talking about.
If I start answering this question, we will only provoke panic,” he noted, speaking about the threat of an attack from the north. “Let’s put it this way: there are problems, and they tend to worsen.
You see, this is such a somewhat anecdotal situation for me. When everyone was shouting for two years that there would be an attack from the north, we told everyone that it would not happen. Nothing happened. At that moment, when we said that there would be an attack from the north, all at once, or maybe it won’t happen? – Budnov emphasized.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of this morning, July 13, the operational situation in the Volyn and Polesie directions remains unchanged and there are no signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups.
At the same time, the enemy maintains a military presence on the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, shelling populated areas from its territory, and increasing the density of minefields along the state border of Ukraine.
