The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate avoided a direct answer to the question of which direction we are talking about – Sumy or Chernigov – because it would provoke panic.

The situation with Russia’s attack on Ukraine from the north is heating up. This was said by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, in an interview with NV, published on Saturday, July 13.
Thus, answering the question of whether a new wave of mobilization in the Russian Federation could affect the enemy’s offensive in the east and north of Ukraine in the coming months, he emphasized that the Russians are already attacking from the north.
When everyone was shouting for two years that there would be an attack from the north, we told everyone that it was not going to happen. You’re welcome. As soon as we said that there would now be an attack from the north, all at once: might there be no more? Will! It’s ongoing,” said Budanov.
When asked if we were talking about the direction of Sumy or Chernigov, the head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence replied: “If I start answering this question, we will still cause panic.”
“Let’s put it this way: there are problems, there is a tendency to get worse,” he added.
And when asked about the Kremlin’s plans to mobilize another 300 thousand Russians in the near future, Budanov replied: “For God’s sake, let them try.”
“I already told someone from the Western press: I won’t have much good news this year, unfortunately,” added the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
As you know, in recent months the Russians have been continuously attacking Donbass and gradually pushing the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. On May 10, Russia opened a new front in the Kharkov region. After the first successes, the Russian troops suffered heavy losses and fell to Volchansk.
