The Russian Federation aims to fundamentally change the Euro-Atlantic security architecture, NATO believes.
Russia remains the most important and direct threat to the security of the North Atlantic Alliance. This was discussed on Wednesday, July 10, in the declaration of the Washington NATO summit, according to the NATO website.
The Alliance explained that Russia seeks to fundamentally change the Euro-Atlantic security architecture.
“Russia’s all-out aggression in Ukraine undermines peace and stability in the Euro-Atlantic region and seriously undermines global security,” the Alliance said.
NATO believes that the overall threat posed by Russia to NATO will remain for a long time, as Russia restores and continues to expand its military capabilities, continues to violate the airspace of NATO countries and conduct activities that is exciting.
“We stand in solidarity with all Alliance members affected by these NATO actions that do not seek confrontation and do not pose a threat to Russia,” the document said.
At the same time, NATO countries indicate that Russia’s aggressive hybrid actions against Alliance members may force the North Atlantic Council to invoke Article 5 of the Washington Treaty.
Such actions, as stated on the NATO website, include: sabotage, acts of violence, provocations at Alliance borders, instrumentalization of illegal migration, malicious cyber activity, electronic interference, disinformation campaigns, malicious political influence, and economic coercion.
These actions pose a threat to the security of the Alliance, NATO members emphasized.
It was previously reported that the draft declaration that NATO allies may use in Washington indicates that Ukraine’s future lies with the Alliance. And the invitation will be sent when the allies agree and the necessary conditions are met.
