The leaders of the alliance agreed that member states should provide continued assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The North Atlantic Alliance made a decision at the NATO summit in Washington (USA), where, in particular, it focused on the amount of aid to Ukraine for 2025. This was reported by a European Pravda correspondent on Wednesday, July 10.
“We reaffirm our determination to support Ukraine in building a force capable of defeating Russian aggression today and deterring it in the future. To this end, we intend to provide a minimum core fund of €40 billion in the next year,” the NATO member states said in their decision adopted by consensus.
In addition, the Alliance is committed to long-term assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, not just support in 2025, to “ensure a sustainable level of security assistance to Ukraine, taking into account Ukraine’s needs, national procedures budget and bilateral security agreements made by the members of the Alliance with Ukraine.”
Next year at the summit in The Hague, heads of state and government intend to review the contributions of Alliance members. It is also possible to change the amount of aid based on Ukraine’s needs at upcoming NATO summits.
It was previously reported that the draft declaration that NATO allies may use in Washington indicates that Ukraine’s future lies with the Alliance. And the invitation will be sent when the allies agree and the necessary conditions are met.
