The United States will deepen international cooperation to support Ukraine’s self-defense.
The United States will not join the war in Ukraine, but will continue to support Kyiv. Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin announced this on Wednesday, July 10, at the NATO Summit in Washington, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“We will not be drawn into the reckless war that Putin has chosen. But we will support Ukraine in its fight for its sovereignty and security. We will defend every inch of NATO territory and continue to strengthen NATO’s collective defense and deterrence, Austin said.
According to him, after Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, NATO became “bigger than before.”
“And our new allies in Finland and Sweden brought the number of members of the alliance to 32. And remember: Putin’s war is not a result of NATO expansion Putin is the cause of NATO expansion,” said he.
The head of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that the United States will deepen cooperation in support of Ukraine’s self-defense.
“In another sign of our deep commitment to Ukraine’s self-defense, a coalition of countries is working tirelessly to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets. And now, President Biden, along with the Presidents Minister of the Netherlands and Denmark, is proud to announce that the transfer of F-16s has officially begun, and Ukraine will fly F-16s this summer,” added the politician.
As already written, Ukraine and the United States discussed the supply of the Patriot. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba met with US Assistant Secretary of State James O’Brien.
