The Polish authorities will do this only at Kyiv’s request. The corresponding actions are provided for in paragraph No. 14 of the bilateral security treaty between Ukraine and Poland. The document has already been published on the website of the President of Ukraine.
Poland, at the request of Ukraine, will encourage Ukrainian citizens to return to Ukraine to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Security and Defense Forces, the document says.
As is known, on July 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk signed a bilateral security agreement in Warsaw.
The agreement provides for the possibility of training personnel of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on Polish territory. It is about creating a so-called Ukrainian legion, which Ukrainian citizens living in Poland and other countries will be able to join.
The agreements also provide for the development of a mechanism that will allow the Polish army to shoot down Russian missiles and drones flying in the direction of Poland in Ukrainian airspace. In addition, the agreement stipulates that Warsaw will consider the possibility of transferring a squadron of MiG-29 fighters to Kyiv.
Let us recall that new rules for Ukrainian refugees came into force in Poland on July 1. In particular, Warsaw left the amount of 800 zlotys for the monthly allowance for Ukrainians in Poland and 300 zlotys for a one-time payment for children going to Polish schools.
