Health Minister Viktor Lyashko spoke about this on air during a national telethon, the Ukrinform agency reports.
The key task is to evacuate the building, which was also damaged, where oncology, traumatology, surgery, oncohematology were located, he noted. We are gradually evacuating children to other hospitals, because there is no light, oxygen or water supply in Okhmatdet. Our task is to minimize potential negative consequences for those who were undergoing treatment.
In total, five buildings of Okhmatdet were damaged as a result of the missile attack. So far, 20 victims are known, the data is constantly being updated. Many doctors were injured, but they continue to work and provide assistance to others.
In addition, the building of the Children’s Cardiac Surgery Center, located on the territory of Okhmatdet, was damaged. At the time of the strike, three heart surgeries were taking place there, and as a result of the explosion, the windows were damaged, and the chest cavity of the patients was contaminated. Now they are trying to save the children in other hospitals.
