Next Thursday in Washington there will be a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council and a personal meeting between Biden and Zelensky.
US President Joe Biden’s administration is working to arrange his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week. A White House official said this in a briefing yesterday.
According to him, on July 9, Biden will meet with NATO leaders as part of an event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Alliance. At the summit on Wednesday 10 July he welcomed Sweden as a new member of NATO. A joint dinner is planned at the White House.
On Thursday, July 11, meetings will be held with the leaders of the EU and the partners of the Alliance in the Indo-Pacific region – Australia, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand. A meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council will take place in the afternoon.
Biden will hold events with nearly 20 allies and partners who have signed security agreements with Ukraine.
“And although the president will have a rather busy schedule, we are working on organizing meetings with various world leaders on the sidelines of the summit, with President Zelensky, and in the coming days We will have more information about them to share,” the official said.
Let’s note that the Ukrainian side has not officially confirmed Zelensky’s trip to the United States. At the same time, in April, the President of Ukraine received an invitation to the NATO summit in Washington.
Let’s also recall that in June Zelensky met with Biden twice – in France, at the D-Day celebration in Normandy and Italy at the G7 summit. At the last meeting a security agreement was signed between Ukraine and the United States.
