The ship is expected to join the Ukrainian fleet this year and become the new flagship of the Navy. The Ukrainian Navy has published a video of the ship’s sea trials in Turkey on YouTube.
Defense Express noted that the footage includes people in civilian clothes. These are likely Turkish workers involved in completing the ship.
The footage shows that the helicopter landing pad has not yet been fully installed in the corvette’s stern. However, some weapons systems can be seen: a 76mm artillery mount and an Aselsan Gokdeniz 35mm anti-aircraft gun mount.
As is known, the corvette “Hetman Ivan Mazepa” is a Turkish Ada-class corvette, built by Turkey for Ukraine on a shipyard in Istanbul. In the future, this ship will become the flagship of the Ukrainian Navy.
The corvette is 99 m long and has a crew of 93. Ships of this type can perform anti-submarine operations and patrol the open sea.
Let us recall that in March 2024, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky named the Ada-class corvette of the Ukrainian Navy, which is being built in Turkey, after Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky.
