The US Department of Defense explained that the reason for this decision was false accusations from Tbilisi.
The United States has postponed Worthy Partner military exercises with Georgia indefinitely due to a comprehensive review of bilateral cooperation. They are supposed to take place on July 25 – August 6. This is stated in a press release on the Pentagon website.
The US administration began a comprehensive review of bilateral cooperation on May 30, the Pentagon recalled.
“The decision to postpone the implementation of the Worthy Partner exercise is due to the false accusations of the Georgian government against the United States and other Western countries that are trying to force Georgia “to open a second front against Russia to relieve pressure in Ukraine,” as well as participating in two coup attempts against the ruling party,” the US Department of Defense said.
Washington decided that “now is not the right time to conduct large-scale military exercises in Georgia.”
The Pentagon added that it will continue cooperation with the Georgian Armed Forces.
