Of all the countries proposed in the survey, Hungarians consider Ukraine the biggest threat, followed by Russia, China and the United States.
Ukraine poses a greater threat to Hungary than Russia. This is confirmed by survey data from the Policy Solutions analytical center, writes Telex.
Thus, Hungarians consider Ukraine the biggest threat (51%). It is followed by Russia (46%), China (34%) and the USA (34%).
This is a big change from last year’s data: in 2023, Hungarians still consider Russia the biggest threat – 12 percentage points more than Ukraine.
Among the Hungarian population, the perception of Ukraine has worsened over the past year compared to other states. This applies to all respondents, regardless of their political affiliation.
According to a quarter of Hungarians (27%), it would be in Hungary’s interest to move closer to Russia and move away from the European Union. At the same time, the relative majority of the country’s population (43%) still rejects closer cooperation with the Russian Federation.
Compared to last year’s study, the attitude towards Ukrainian refugees among Hungarians has worsened. Today, only 17% of respondents would feel good if Ukrainian refugees settled in their neighborhood, while every second respondent (49%) would feel bad in this case.
Let’s remember that about 14% of Slovak residents want Russia to win the war against Ukraine, 33% of respondents want victory for Ukraine.
