Warsaw will ask at the NATO summit in Washington for further strengthening of the eastern part of the Alliance.
Polish President Andrzej Duda convened a meeting of the country’s National Security Council. He said this on Thursday, July 4, at a media briefing at the Center for Doctrine and Training of the Polish Armed Forces in the city of Bydgoszcz, Ukrinform reports.
“I decided to meet with the National Security Council on Monday at 9 am, before we fly to Washington for the NATO summit,” Duda said.
It is known that Warsaw intends to ask the Alliance to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank, due to the Russian threat.
The president also mentioned that the country’s national security strategy will be changed in Poland. He recalled that the previous one was adopted recently, in 2020, but since then the security situation in Eastern Europe has changed significantly. Duda expressed hope that Poland will soon have an updated document that will meet its national security needs.
He added that the NATO-Ukraine Analysis, Training and Education Center for the exchange of experience between the military of the Alliance and Ukraine will soon open in the country.
