The Conservative Party in Great Britain has found itself in the minority for the first time in 14 years in power.
Labor won the UK elections with a landslide majority of 170 votes. The BBC reported this on Thursday, July 4, citing exit poll data from the BBC, ITV and Sky.
According to these data, Labor led by Keir Starmer will receive 410 seats in the new parliament. The leading Conservative Party suffers a major defeat – it receives 131 seats.
The Liberal Democrats are in third place (61 seats), followed by the right-wing populist party Reform UK (13), the Scottish National Party (10), the Greens (2), other parties and independent candidates (23 ).
The final results are expected to be announced on Friday. If the exit polls are confirmed, King Charles will instruct Starmer to form a government, and Labor will return to power, having been out of parliament for 14 years.
The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is likely to be the leader of the Labor Party, Keir Starmer, who will have an absolute majority in the House of Commons.
Before the election, Starmer said that if he won the parliamentary elections and was appointed prime minister, he would continue the Conservative course in support of Ukraine. In particular, he emphasized that with the victory of Labour, the military, financial, diplomatic and political support for Ukraine from London will remain unchanged.
Starmer also pledged that his party would “ensure the seizure and re-use” of frozen Russian state assets to support Ukraine, and would play a leading role in giving Ukraine a “clear path to NATO membership.”
Social polls in Romania indicate that the current Romanian Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geoane, has the highest support in his country as a potential candidate in the presidential elections.
