The Slovak prosecutor’s office has reclassified the assassination attempt on Prime Minister Robert Fico as a terrorist act. This was announced by Prosecutor General Maros Zilinka, TASR reports.
“The charges brought against the shooter who attempted to kill Prime Minister Robert Fico in May have been reclassified as an act of terrorism,” he said.
The attacker was initially charged with premeditated murder. Currently, he was informed of the change in the classification of the crime.
We remind you that on May 15, 71-year-old Juraj Cintula shot Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. The assassination attempt took place after the government retreated to the city of Gandlova.
In early June, Fico recorded his first appeal since the assassination attempt, in which he announced his intentions to return to work in a few weeks.
The government said that after surviving the assassination attempt, Fico will have permanent health problems.
