In Moscow, a court imposed long prison terms in a colony for brothers Ioann, Alexey and Timofey Ashcheulov, who “tried to illegally cross the state border and join the Ukrainian military.” This was reported by the Russian propaganda agency Interfax in connection with the press service of the Moscow prosecutor’s office.
Ioann Ashcheulov was sentenced to 17.5 years, his two brothers were sentenced to 17 years in a maximum security colony, all three were sentenced to serve the first three years in prison.

“The court found that the Ashcheulov brothers decided to take part in military and other actions of the Ukrainian paramilitary association Legion of Freedom of Russia, recognized by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation as terrorist and banned on the territory of Russia,” said of the prosecutor’s office.
The prosecutor’s office added that in July 2023, the Ashcheulovs developed a walking route for their departure to the territory of Ukraine, bypassing the established checkpoints, where they arrived in the Kursk region and walked towards the state border of the Russian Federation with the purpose of further illegal crossing and further participation in military and other actions for hostile forces within a terrorist organization.”
The brothers were detained one and a half kilometers from the Russian border.
It is reported that, according to media reports, those convicted are the sons of Lipetsk priest Igor Ashcheulov.
Earlier, the Russian FSB announced the “detention of seven followers of the Russian Volunteer Corps in Moscow.”
