The first combat aircraft is expected to be sent soon. The date of the first delivery and the number of aircraft transferred are not disclosed for security reasons. This was stated by the Dutch Minister of Defence Kajsa Ollongren in a letter to the House of Representatives of the parliament.
The minister promised that the Dutch House of Representatives would be kept confidential about the aircraft deliveries.
The Netherlands and Denmark have allowed Ukraine to use F-16s against Russian aircraft, even if they are in Russian airspace.
Ukrainian military pilots and technicians are being trained in the United States and several European countries. Ukraine is expected to have its first six F-16 fighters and 12 trained pilots as early as the summer of 2024.
Let us recall that in June, the commander of the Netherlands Air Force, Arnoud Stolmann, stated that the Netherlands is also training Ukrainian instructors in aircraft maintenance, because it is important to train not only pilots, but also engineers who will subsequently service F-16 fighters.
