The Moscow Times said that we are talking about microcircuits with a 65 nm topology, which were invented in 2005.
The ruling regime of the Russian Federation has ordered Russian specialists to try to reproduce Western chips from the mid-2000s by 2028. This was reported by The Moscow Times.
We are talking about the establishment of mass production of microcircuits with 65 nm topology. The implementation of this work was entrusted to the Zelenograd enterprise Micronspart of a group of companies Element.
In 2011 Microns agreed with the French-Italian component manufacturer STmicroelectronics to start producing such microcircuits, but in 2014, due to the sanctions on Crimea, the cooperation stopped.
Current Microns manufactures semiconductors using 180-90 nm topologies. The technology makes it possible to produce chips for transport cards, equipment for the Internet, as well as a narrow range of general purpose processors.
65 nm processors were invented in 2005, and their serial production by the world’s leading microelectronics manufacturers, such as Intel, AMD, IBM and others, began in 2006-2007.
Currently, the world’s semiconductor factories have mastered the 2 nm topology, including Taiwan’s TSMC.
