The authors of a reputable American publication appealed to the president to withdraw his candidacy from the presidential election.
The editors of the American edition of the New York Times on Friday, June 28, called on President Joe Biden to leave the presidential race after losing to Donald Trump in a televised debate the previous day.
“The President appeared Thursday night as a shadow of a great public servant,” the Times editorial said.
“He tried to explain what he would achieve in a second term. He tried to respond to Trump’s provocations. He tried to hold Trump accountable for his lies, failures and terrible plans. More than once he tried to follow the his proposals,” the article’s authors wrote.
They note that the current president challenged Trump to a verbal duel and lost. Biden set the rules and insisted that the date be set several months earlier than usual. This was done because Biden urgently needed to address longstanding public concerns about his mental acuity.
“The reality that Mr. Biden must now face is that he has failed his own test,” the New York Times editorial board said.
“Biden is a great president. Under his leadership, the country has grown and begun to address some long-term challenges, while the wounds caused by Trump have begun to heal,” acknowledged the New York Times. “But the greatest public service Biden can provide today is to announce that he will not continue to run for re-election.”
The publication also published a telling cover showing Biden leaving the frame. The only word here is “panic,” indicating the mood in the Democratic Party after Biden’s disastrous debate.

We remind you that the first debate between Biden and Trump in the presidential race ended in complete failure for the current head of state. During the debates, the US president’s voice was often hoarse, which the White House later attributed to a cold. There were also times when Biden lost his train of thought or couldn’t clearly articulate a proposal.
CNN reporters polled observers and asked: Who do you think won the debate today? Joe Biden got 33%, Donald Trump – 67%. Democrats have reportedly begun talking about a possible replacement candidate.
