Russia has said that the US actions are prompting them to begin production of strike systems that cover distances of up to 5,500 kilometers and carry a nuclear charge.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on Friday announced June 28 the need to resume production of short- and medium-range missiles. He also decided to put them, reports RosSMI.

“Most likely, we have to start making these strike systems and then, based on the actual situation, make a decision about where – if necessary to ensure our security – to put them,” Putin said. .

According to him, “the United States is deploying its medium- and short-range missiles in different regions of the world” and this “causes concern and immediate action.”

At the same time, the dictator did not say where such missiles are located.

As reported, in April the Russian Federation announced its readiness to withdraw from the moratorium on missile deployment.

Let’s recall that in February 2023 it became known that Russia had unsuccessfully launched a Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile.

The United States and the Soviet Union signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty in 1987. It is in effect until 2019. Then the administration of US President Donald Trump said that Russia had deployed the 9M729 missile system, in thus violating the agreement and henceforth its validity ceases. In August of the same year, the Russian Foreign Ministry also announced the termination of the agreement.
INF missiles are ground-launched ballistic and cruise missiles capable of a range of 500 to 5,500 kilometers and carrying a nuclear charge.
