Commander of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Andrey Gnatov will replace Yuri Sodol in the Khortitsa OSMU. UP writes about this. “Khortitsa” is the entire eastern group of Ukrainian troops at the front.

The Commander-in-Chief (Alexander Syrsky – ed.) made non-public attempts to save the general, but after everything went into the “new – old” line, he decided not to argue publicly. The ambitions of young commanders are normal. Syrsky probably did not want the conflict to be perceived as a generational dispute, because this would harm the front, said an unnamed interlocutor of the UP at the General Staff.
It is indicated that Sodol will formally remain in the status of commander of the Khortitsa OSUV for a few more days, but in this place he will also be replaced by the new head of the Joint Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Gnatov.
As Ukrayinska Pravda notes, the dismissal of Yuriy Sodol from the post of commander of the Joint Forces did not come as a surprise to the General Staff.
The UP has an appeal from the chief of staff of the Azov brigades, Bogdan Krotevich, to the DBR and publishes its key theses.
The document states that the lieutenant general was not in Mariupol for an hour and gave orders that contradicted the locations of Azov and the 36th Marine Brigade. In particular, according to Krotevich’s information, the 36th Sodol ordered to break through to the Azovstal plant, and to Azov to break through to the Ilyich iron and steel plant. But at that time, Azov was closer to Azovstal, and the Marines were closer to the Ilyich iron and steel plant.
Also, in Krotevich’s appeal to the DBR, it is noted that “Azov” did not receive “any additional ammunition before the start of the defense of Mariupol,” and fortifications in the city were not built due to problems in Sodol’s communication with local authorities.
In addition, according to the Azov chief of staff, described in the letter, during the encirclement of Mariupol, interaction with units that were not part of the Mariupol garrison was completely absent. This threatened various units with “friendly fire.”
At the same time, Krotevich, in his letter to the DBR, states that after his appointment as head of the OSUV “Khortitsa,” Sodol began to give “incomprehensible orders” to the 12th NSU brigade to occupy the lowlands, as well as advance a small number of meters in a short time without sufficient amount of ammunition.
At the same time, a high-ranking UP interlocutor in the Defense Forces claims that Sodol was supported in his position as commander of the Joint Forces by both Commander-in-Chief Syrsky and the General Staff as a whole. Another UP interlocutor in the Marine Corps adds that Sodol, despite his local “Poroshenko-bot” views, even enjoyed the president’s favor.
