On Wednesday, June 26, PACE approved the resolution “Legal and Human Rights Aspects of the Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine” on the creation of a special tribunal. The Chairman of the PACE Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Oleksiy Goncharenko reported this on Telegram.
According to the parliamentarian, the Resolution proposes the creation of a special tribunal for Russia on the basis of the agreement of the Council of Europe with Ukraine. In addition, we are talking about the need to use all tools to ensure accountability for war crimes. PACE also calls for recognizing the private military company Wagner as a terrorist organization.
Let us recall that on April 15, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe did not recognize the legitimacy of Russian President Vladimir Putin. PACE also called on member countries of the Council of Europe, observer countries and the European Union to stop all contacts with Putin’s criminal authorities.
