The High Anti-Corruption Court has chosen a preventive measure for the mayor of the city of Mukachevo, Andrei Baloga, who is suspected of abusing his official position to sell land. This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday, June 26.
“The court applied a preventive measure to the suspect in the form of detention with the alternative of posting a 30 million hryvnia bail, with the imposition of appropriate procedural duties,” the statement said.
We remind you that on June 24, Andrei Baloga and Mikhail Lan were exposed for abuse of official position. According to the investigation, the mayor assured that there was a decision in a session of the City Council to sell a site in the city center to a private company, whose actual controller is the chairman of the district council.
On June 25, Baloga and Lanyu were informed on suspicion of abuse of official position for the purpose of selling land at a reduced price. Officials face up to six years in prison with the denial of the right to hold certain positions and fines.
