The missile was launched this morning (local time) from an area near Pyongyang and likely failed shortly after launch.
North Korea launched a ballistic missile on Wednesday, June 26, which reportedly ended in failure. Bloomberg reported this.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missile was launched at around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday local time (11:30 p.m. Tuesday Kiev time) from an area near Pyongyang and likely failed after launching. South Korean and US intelligence agencies are conducting tests to determine the details.
According to officials in Tokyo, the missile fell into waters outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone. Additional information about the flight is not yet available.
The launch was the first since North Korea launched short-range ballistic missiles in late May.
North Korea has avoided missile failures in the past few years as Kim Jong Un has deployed a new line of missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads and designed to strike the US mainland as well as America’s ally Japan and South Korea.
It was previously reported that North Korea launched more than three hundred balloons with garbage towards South Korea in the past two days.
