The attacker turned out to be a contract soldier recruited by the Russian special service, the head of a local border detachment, the report says. — At the direction of the occupiers, “Crit” established the locations of fortified areas and the approximate number of Ukrainian troops defending the borders with Belarus.
“Mole” also tried to transmit the coordinates of warehouses with weapons and ammunition of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the region.
If hostile tasks were carried out, the occupiers promised to “evacuate” their agent to Russian territory and place him in Russian occupation groups, the SBU said.
The SBU intercepted the relevant information in advance and documented the criminal actions of the defendant, and at the final stage of the special operation, the SBU counterintelligence officers, with the involvement of special forces from TsSO “A”, detained the Russian agent near the place of duty.
Subsequently, the SBU took comprehensive measures to secure the locations of Ukrainian troops, the security service added.
According to the investigation, the defendant was remotely recruited by FSB officer Alexey Dobritsky, stationed in temporarily occupied Lugansk.
The contract soldier came to the attention of Russia while serving in eastern Ukraine. Subsequently, he was transferred to one of the units of the border detachment in the Volyn region, the SBU said. — For communication, the agent and his Russian curator used an anonymous chat in the messenger.
During a search in the apartment and workplace of the detainee, a mobile phone and a computer were seized, which he used in criminal activities.
Based on the collected evidence, Security Service investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state betrayal committed under martial law), the SBU notes. — While the attacker is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
