The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate believes that the answer to Russia’s superiority in manpower is combat technology, in which Ukraine has become a world leader.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, predicts that the situation in eastern Ukraine will remain difficult for at least a month, but “there will be no Armageddon.”
Budanov, in an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer, was asked whether Ukrainian troops could stop Russia’s current offensive in eastern Ukraine, where Moscow is making small but steady territorial gains.
“The good news is that there will be no Armageddon. The bad news is that the situation will remain like this for at least a month, and it will not get any easier,” said Budanov.
He said Ukraine would do everything possible to “reduce Russia’s gains.” However, when asked whether Ukraine will be able to hold the city of Chasov Yar, Budanov said: “I will refrain from answering.”
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate believes that the answer to Russia’s advantage in manpower is combat technology, in which Ukraine has become a world leader, replacing people on the battlefield, where possible, with new variant of drones and electronic warfare.
“Technology will be essential in this war so that we don’t fight the war to the last citizen,” Budanov predicted.
He also called himself a “fan” of waging war on Russia with long-range drones.
“I supported this from the first days of the war, openly declaring that as long as the war is localized on our territory, it will not affect Russia. That is why, in the spring of 2022, we began to conduct significant operations territory of Russia, and we will go further, more of us will have resources for it And Russia began to feel it, “he said.
In other words, Budanov said, Russian leader Vladimir Putin can no longer pretend to his people that this war does not affect him.
“It is not yet critical for Russia at this stage, but it has led to the fact that the average citizen in the European part of the Russian Federation knows and feels that the war is going on, and he himself feels some explosions affects, even on a small scale, their morale,” said the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
He also expressed the opinion that the White House’s warning to Kyiv not to attack oil refineries is futile, as they are a legitimate military target. The attacks may not turn into a war, the intelligence chief acknowledged, but he believes it could affect Russia’s economy “and psychological state,” which in turn “affects the military side.” The GUR has announced that it considers any Russian military target within a 500-mile radius to be fair game.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate also does not see the point in peace negotiations, because “we have no other choice but to return the conquered otherwise, the state of war will continue forever.”
We remind you that Russian troops are constantly trying to advance to the front. The hottest situation is in the direction of Pokrovsky and Kupyansky, but the Ukrainian military gives a decisive rebuff to the enemy.
