During a shooting with a hunting carbine, the officer shot a forest worker instead of a target.
A deputy of the Sumy regional council is suspected of killing a forestry worker. He was declared suspicious, the Sumy regional prosecutor’s office reported on Saturday, June 22.
“According to the investigation, the event took place on June 21 in the territory of the Northern Forest hunting reserve, located in the village of Zarechye, Konotop district,” the report said.
As the investigators established, while checking his own hunting carbine, a deputy of the Sumy Regional Council instead of a target shot a forest worker who was in the firing zone.
The 46-year-old victim died on the spot due to a gunshot wound.
The head of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Alexander Panchenko, informed the deputy about the suspicion of premeditated murder (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code). Currently, the suspect is in the Temporary Detention Center, the issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being decided.
Earlier in Khmelnitsky, a developer who ordered the killing of a competitor was detained.
It was also reported that Maxim Denshchik was shot in Zaporozhye. Until recently, he served as the director of the legal support department of the Zaporozhye City Council, but in May he was temporarily suspended from his duties while an internal investigation was conducted.
