The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted this on June 20.
Fighting intensified in areas that were considered relatively calm. In particular, the Russians are trying to actively storm Toretsky near Shumy and New York.
The Russian command is increasing the intensity and expanding the geography of combat operations in order to exhaust Ukrainian troops and prevent them from going on the offensive.
The enemy understands perfectly well: as a result of the gradual receipt of a significant amount of weapons and military equipment from our partners, the arrival of the first F-16s, which will strengthen the air defense, time will play in our favor, and its chances of success will decrease,” says the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky.
In the Bakhmut direction, the Russians are trying to “put the squeeze” on Ivanovskoye in order to show at least some local success. Aleksey Tarasenko, deputy battalion commander of the 5th Special Brigade, reported this to the “We are Ukraine” channel.
Their tasks are most likely to move closer to Vremya Yar from the south, to get closer to the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal. Their super-global tasks are fundamentally impossible, so they most likely abandoned them, and are trying to get at least the slightest local success, says Tarasenko.
