The security service prevented attempts by Russian special services to obtain strategically important information about the defense of Kharkov. The SBU reported this on June 19.
It was noted that the Russians were preparing new missile and drone strikes and a breakthrough by sabotage and reconnaissance groups on the northern outskirts of the city. To get intelligence information, the enemy brought his informant – an ideological supporter of Russianism living in the suburbs of the regional center.
It was established that the attackers lured the man to cooperate through the popular dating chat on Telegram messenger. There, a liaison officer of the Russian special service, posing as an ordinary citizen of the Russian Federation, offered a close relationship with a resident of the Kharkov region. After that, the woman gradually attracted him to intelligence and subversive activities. According to his instructions, the defendant walked through the northern territories of the Kharkov region, where he secretly recorded the places with the greatest concentration of Defense Forces personnel.
The informant was detained while he was photographing the special vehicles of the Ukrainian soldiers.
A phone was recovered at the scene of the incident, which the defendant used to communicate with his Russian “girlfriend” and take pictures of military installations.
The detainee was informed of the suspicion. The attacker is in custody. He faces up to 8 years in prison.
