The press service of the Verkhovna Rada reported this today, June 18, with reference to the Digital Transformation Committee.
The Law of Ukraine on the implementation of EU legislation on roaming issues (Bill No. 10265) was adopted on May 22 in fulfillment of one of the conditions for Ukraine’s European integration in the field of electronic communications, the message says.
This law ensures that Ukraine joins the common roaming zone between Ukraine and the EU and that Ukrainians receive roaming services in EU countries in the “Roaming Like Home” (RLAH) mode.
RLAH assumes that:
- when traveling in the EU, calls, SMS and data are included in the home package of services, respectively, roaming services are provided at no additional cost;
- Users of European operators traveling to Ukraine will also be able to take advantage of the common roaming zone.
Thanks to the law, the investment climate for businesses in the field of electronic communications is significantly improving. Domestic enterprises will receive a high degree of trust by working under the same rules with European partners, I emphasize in the committee.
The Telegram channel of the European Parliament notes that this step will contribute to the further advancement of Ukraine on the European path and accession to the EU Single Market.
The European zone “Roam like at home” allows you to use the tariffs of your mobile operators in EU countries on an ongoing basis. The zone unites 27 EU countries and countries of the European Economic Area, the report notes.
