The contract for the supply of firearms was signed by the defense ministers of the two countries, Sebastien Lecornu and Suren Papikyan.
Armenia has signed an agreement for the purchase of French self-propelled artillery systems (SPG) Caesar. This was announced by French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu on the social network X on Tuesday, June 18.
Lecornu spoke about his meeting with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan in France. According to him, a “warm and productive dialogue” took place.
“With the signing of the contract for the purchase of Caesar’s guns, a new peak was reached,” Lecornu wrote without any details.
Let’s remember that in October 2023 it became known that France is ready to sell arms to Armenia. Then we talk about air defense. And in December of the same year, Armenia received the French Bastion armored vehicle. The possibility of giving Caesar self-propelled guns was also mentioned.
And in April of this year, France recalled its ambassador from Azerbaijan for consultations. Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev spoke about France’s “destructive role” in the Caucasus.
