Over the weekend in Switzerland, most participating states and heads of organizations signed a joint communiqué.
Several countries continue to study the text of the Peace Summit communiqué on the war in Ukraine and decide on a possible accession to it. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba announced this on Monday, June 17, during a national telethon.
“They will decide whether to join it or not, I have no doubt that more countries will join this joint communiqué,” said Kuleba.
At the same time, he explained the situation in Jordan and Iraq.
The Foreign Minister noted that the representatives of the Russian state news agency were the first to report the disappearance of the signatures of Iraq and Jordan under the Peace Summit communiqué on the war in Ukraine.
Kuleba stressed that the Russian Federation is engaged in propaganda and is currently using this news about the alleged revocation of the signatures of these two countries.
“On the basis of this, the explanations were developed that the Summit was not successful. Maybe we stop playing with Russian propaganda and instead of writing, repeating Russian propaganda, let’s analyze the situation objectively?”
At the same time, the head of the Foreign Ministry clarified that Iraq warned that it would not join the declaration due to its internal issues and that they appeared on this list by accident. Jordan will resolve this issue at the level of the country’s leadership.
“The text will be studied further and after that they will report their decision, but due to a technical error the two countries were included in the list of signatories,” said Kuleba.
Let’s recall that on June 15-16, the historic international Peace Summit, organized by Ukraine, was held in Switzerland. Zelensky said that the Peace Summit could have practical steps towards peace.
According to the President, the next, second Peace Summit will take place in months, not years.
